Summer School 2010: Date for your Diaries!! We can now confirm that next year’s school will be held from 31 July – 6 August 2010 at Giggleswick School. We are looking forward to the splendid new facilities that we hope will be provided by the new theatre and seeing improvements to the rest of the accommodation and classrooms more information to follow about Summer School to follow shortly. We are delighted to announce a new course for 2010. Laura Zakian (Mrs Paul Bartholomew) will be leading a course for Jazz vocalists. Pass this on to all your singing friends!! A flyer, promoting the 2010 school will soon be available on the M4P website (www.m4p.org.uk). Please print them off and hand them out to all your musical friends. Personal recommendation is the best advert for the summer school, so please do your bit! Spring Music Weekend 2010 In a new venture we are holding a weekend course in the Spring - because we don’t think one course a year is enough! We hope you feel the same way. The weekend WILL be held at Alston Hall near Preston in Lancashire and the dates will be 30th April - 2nd May 2010. Jazz tutors are confirmed, and we are hoping that it will also be possible to offer chamber music. The weekend will run from Friday evening meal to afternoon tea on Sunday, and we will let you have details of the cost and what is on offer as soon as possible. Summer School 2009 We would like to thank all those students who completed and returned their feedback forms. These have been studied very carefully and will be informing our planning for next year’s school. Of course – not everyone feels the same about some issues, and we cannot please all of the people all of the time – but rest assured we do our best to make the changes that would seem to benefit the majority of students. Feedback forms relating to course content and structure will be passed on to the tutors shortly, and those relating to catering and cleanliness etc at Giggleswick will be forwarded to the school. As stated above, we are hopeful that the improvements we saw this year will be maintained and improved upon. We would like again to publicly thank those students who came as helpers on the first day and those who have joined us on the committee. We have benefitted a great deal from the new ideas, and the assistance we have been given has made our jobs easier. We should also like to thank those students who have set up standing order mandates to give us a continual income. It means a great deal to us to have this visible indication of faith in us and the future of M4P and we are extremely grateful. The audio DVD of all of the concerts at this year’s school is available, and can be yours for a £5 donation (when used in conjunction with a gift aid form), if you have already filled one in and donated then there is no need to do so again, just simply state this on you application, there is nearly 2 gigabytes of music and can be played on any DVD player or computer. Please apply with your £5 donation to the registered office address in the blue box below. Finally – thank you to you all for what you brought to the 2009 school. The accommodation might not be everything we would always wish for, but what really makes ANY school is the students ………… so thank you all for the fabulous week that was Summer School 2009! A further Newsletter will be sent out once details of the Spring Weekend are confirmed or once the brochure is ready – whichever is the sooner! If there is anything you wish to see in the Newsletter, please contact Jennie Vaughan at jennie@m4p.org.uk or by post at 299 Westerton Road, Tingley, Wakefield, W. Yorks WF3 1AE
