Summer School 2009: Date for your Diaries!!

We can now confirm that next year’s school will be held from 1 – 8 August 2009 at Giggleswick School. We know some of you will be disappointed that we have not been able to find a new home; however, those we have investigated so far either proved to be little or no improvement on Giggleswick or prohibitively expensive.

Rest assured that we are continuing to search for the best possible permanent home – hopefully one that will include en-suite and standard accommodation, with an appropriate amount of classroom and concert space. Of course, we are also trying to keep the cost of the school as affordable as possible, so we also need to find a venue that charges a reasonable rate for the facilities on offer. Any suggestions of venues you think we should check out would be most welcome. Just send them to info@m4p.org.uk.

Summer School 2008

We would like to thank all those students who completed and returned their feedback forms. These have been studied very carefully and will be informing our planning for next year’s school. Of course – not everyone feels the same about some issues, and we cannot please all of the people all of the time – but we do our best to make those improvements that would seem to benefit the majority.

Feedback forms relating to course content and structure have been passed on to the tutors, and those relating to catering and cleanliness etc at Giggleswick have been forwarded to the school. We are hopeful that next year will see many, if not all of the problems raised addressed.

M4P: The Future

The first M4P Summer School was better than we could have hoped for ………..and our thanks go to all students and tutors for making it so successful.

The directors all wish the school to go from strength to strength and, for this to happen, we need to be continually looking to make improvements. We have realised that six of us cannot do everything that needs to be done to set up on the first day of the school, and so we are asking for volunteers to help us carry out some of the tasks. These include such things as:-

  • putting the signs on the classroom doors
  • putting the signs on the designated Ladies & Gents bathrooms and toilets
  • delivering the tea and coffee to the common rooms
  • checking people in at the reception desk
  • showing new students to their rooms

If you would be willing to arrive at the school earlier and help with these and other tasks, please let us know by emailing info@m4p.org.uk. A buffet lunch will be provided for all helpers.

The above paragraph deals with the need for assistance in the immediate future; however, the directors are all aware of the need for organisations to be flexible and responsive to any requirement for change. We all hope to continue to work for the good of M4P for many years, but we think it would be helpful to have input from other, possibly younger (!), people who also wish to see M4P flourish.

We would be grateful if you could consider whether you might wish to become involved in the planning and organising of summer schools and other potential ventures. We particularly need advice and expertise in the area of fundraising and advertising in this time of financial hardship! Again, if you think you would like to become involved, please email to info@m4p.org.uk.
